Understanding the Integrative Approach
There is a significant difference between not being sick and being well. In fact, wellness can be defined as “the quality or state of being in good health especially as an actively sought goal”. While modern western medicine excels at treating trauma, emergencies and acute sickness, it unfortunately does not provide a good framework to help you stay truly well, often waiting until sickness occurs to intervene. Dr. Jeney offers physician guided wellness education and natural health care alternatives for growing families using an integrative approach.
What is Integrative Medicine? According to Dr. Andrew Weil, integrative medicine can be defined as “… a healing-oriented medicine that takes account of the whole person, body, mind, and spirit, including all aspects of lifestyle. It emphasizes the therapeutic relationship between the practitioner and the patient, and makes use of all appropriate therapies, both conventional and alternative.”
Whether you are planning for pregnancy, trying to make more informed choices for your family or looking for ways to heal naturally, Dr. Jeney will partner with you to identify your unique needs and develop a plan for success.
Your Initial Consult
Dr. Jeney approaches your health with a goal of healing and prevention, combining the best of modern medicine with what works from nutritional medicine, acupuncture, homeopathy and mind-body techniques to meet your needs. In times of illness, natural, less-invasive interventions will be used whenever possible, reserving pharmaceutical medications for use only when absolutely necessary.
Your initial visit, which lasts between 1-1 1/2 hours, will include:
- Full review of medical history and physical exam
- An in-depth review of your current health and lifestyle practices
- Review of any recent labs or testing, and recommendations for any additional evaluation as needed
- A carefully devised and individualized wellness and/or treatment plan to start your journey towards better health
Prior to your initial visit, you will be asked to complete a detailed health questionnaire and return it for review to Dr. Jeney so we can get the most out of our time together. If additional testing is requested, you will be asked to make a follow up phone, Skype or office visit to discuss the results and adjust your plan accordingly.
